  • Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is a significant day in the Episcopal Church, marking the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus Christ. The day is celebrated with a ceremony of washing feet, which symbolizes the love and service that Jesus demonstrated to his disciples. The service includes a gospel reading, homily, and the washing of the feet, followed by the stripping of the altar, which is a tradition that reflects the bareness of the altar on Good Friday. The liturgy for Maundy Thursday provides for the celebration of the Eucharist and the washing of feet, which follows the gospel and homily. The altar is stripped and all decorative furnishings are removed from the church, creating a stark and reflective atmosphere for the worship service.

  • Good Friday

Good Friday in the Episcopal Church is a day of solemnity, fasting, and reflection on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The liturgy includes readings from the Passion Gospel, solemn collects, and optional devotions before the cross.
