The All Saints service at Church of the Good Shepherd this year brought the community together to reflect on where we’ve been, who we are, and who we are becoming.
As the reading from 1 John on Sunday reminds us: Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. The service was a time to remember those we’ve lost and to look ahead to the future. Worship included the lighting of votives and the reading of names.
This year, through a sidewalk sandwich board invitation, the church had invited nearby neighbors to add the names of their loved ones to our own parish list. A new All Saints window was unveiled featuring architectural-size photos of days gone past and the names of all those we remembered aloud during the service. The new window installation is labeled with a single, thematic word: REMEMBER. An accompanying video collage of the All Saints service and a brief explanation of the Communion of Saints is accessible through a QR code posted on the window, and is also available below. Please take a moment to watch.
