Join us for a sacred Palm Sunday service at Church of the Good Shepherd at our 9am service.
About this Service
Palm Sunday, which has been celebrated by Christians since at least the 4th century, marks the transition from Lent into Holy Week. We begin the morning with a remembrance of Jesus’ final entry into Jerusalem—a parade of welcome and celebration. The service ends with a somber reading of the Passion, the story of Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion.
We move through Holy Week and the story of Easter slowly and deliberately. Holy Week culminates in what we call the Triduum (Latin for “three days”). While you may think of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter as three separate services, they are three parts of a single worship service; three episodes in a unified story. If you only attend worship on Easter Sunday, you are missing important parts of the plot and skipping ahead to the ending!
