Join us on Thursday evening at 6pm for our Maundy Thursday service.
ABOUT THE SERVICE
The liturgy of Maundy Thursday is the first service of the Triduum, the three holy days leading up to Easter. The word “maundy” comes from the Latin mandatum, or “commandment,” because Jesus gives his disciples a parting commandment: to love one another. Taking on the role of a servant, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and told them to serve others. Thursday’s service reminds us of Jesus’ direction to us and prepares us for Jesus’ death on Good Friday. The worship service concludes with the stripping of the altar; all depart in silence.
