Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Any youth or family folks who wish to join Tricia McKee in the kitchen and Well will be preparing the eggs to hide on Easter Sunday (9am). We will also be doing some art work with eggs, and reflecting on this time of loss and hope between Good Friday and Easter.

Living Holistically—Holy Living In Anxious Times

March 11th Good Shepherd

March 18th Christ and St. Luke’s

March 25th St. Andrews

April 1st Advent

************************************

The topic for March 11th is Finance
John Meek is a retired Chemical Engineer and Business Owner. He has been a member of Good Shepherd for 40 years where he has been a vestry member and a junior and senior warden. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Diocese. He is also a father and grandfather of six. This program will deal with stewardship in a very broad sense. How do we rationalize our church, self, family, environment, community, and diocese? These are all of particular importance in today’s economic climate.

Every gathering will follow the same format. We will gather at the host church at 6pm for time to socialize. Dinner will begin at 6:30pm, which will be followed by the program at 7:15 pm. The program will end at approximately 8:15 pm and we will conclude with compline.

If you plan on attending, please sign up on the board across from the kitchen.
Brochures are available in the Narthex and the Church Office.

Adult Forum and Synthesis

Friday, February 6th, 2009

We will be looking into our lectionary Epistles in the month of February. They come from 1 Corinthians 7-9 and 2 Corinthians. What a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the early church and notice the commonalities with our own lives that are so cross cultural in our every day world! At 9:15 in the Memorial Hall, February 1, 8, and the 15th. The 22nd will have a special speaker from the National Association of Episcopal Schools. Leaders of Synthesis will work hand in hand with Tricia McKee. As we move into Lent, Adult Forum will follow on the Baptismal Covenant and what that means authentically to our adult faith and call of life in the body of Christ. Synthesis will go back to the library each week in Lent. Children’s Special Processional Contribution in worship—Out of Children’s Chapel service—10:00 service on February 22nd. The children will lead us in a regular Mardi Gras celebration during the Offertory for that day. Come early, and be prepared to take part. Everyone will have a place in this time of worship and celebration!

Theological Education Sunday

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Leah Creighton and The Reverend Andrew Sumani from Malawi will be joining us on Sunday, January 18th during the adult forum and worship. Rev. Sumani is a professor at the Zomba Theological Seminary in Malawi, Africa. As we continue to know Christ and make Him known globally as well as locally it is important that we take theological education very seriously. In the Church, our General Convention expects us to give 1% of our operating budget to theological seminaries. The offering collected on January 18th will go to Zomba Theological Seminary in Malawi. This is an excellent way for us to be in relationship with the Church globally in an effective way.

THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION OFFERING ENVELOPES ARE AVAILABLE IN EACH PEW AS WELL AS THE NARTHEX.
